Jesus is the point.....always.

Written by Skipp Phipps

John 5:39

39 “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

This is Jesus speaking to the religious experts of his day.  They had studied the scriptures more than anybody, yet Jesus was right in front of them and they did not recognize him as the Messiah.   Scary isn't it?  That the Son of God could be right in front of you, you could have listened to the best teachers, went to the right church, memorized the bible, and not recognize Jesus?

Never before has so much information been available to a generation as is available to us.  In a moment we can have the bible in several translations, several commentaries, opinions etc. and just like the people of Jesus day...we can miss the point.  In this short verse, Jesus interprets the bible for us, it's all about him!  If we read the scriptures with this in mind, we can see Jesus everywhere, on every page, on every word.

I f we live life this way, we can see Jesus in every moment.  In every moment of trouble, Jesus is there.  In every moment of triumph, Jesus is there.  We each have a story, but each of us is part of his story.

Let's not get so caught up in our daily lives that we miss the point.  The point is always Jesus.  Where might have you have missed him?  When was he standing right in front of you and you didn't recognize it was him?  I have.
