This is a quick summary of the things we talked about Wed. during our worship night!
Worship is? Seems like every generation has taken a stab at answering that question. The truth is, everything is worship. Every act, every thought...everything we do or don't do is worshiping something or someone.
What we know about God is what he has shown us. We wouldn't know how to begin to worship, let alone WHO to worship if God had not made himself known to mankind.
So one definition of worship is....
Worship is the response to revelation. Every time someone saw a glimpse of God in the bible...they couldn't help but worship! He is so big, so electric, so awesome....worship simply pours out of your being when he is revealed.
So....when I look at my life and find times where it is hard to worship. Times when it seems it's a chore to lift my hands or sing to him.....I have to ask myself...when was the last time I saw God?
God reveals himself in a multitude of ways. God is more creative than all of humanity put together. He has chosen to use the bible as a vehicle to reveal himself. Jesus said the scriptures where all about him.....teaching us who God is. If you are dry in your worship....look to the bible....take a walk...quite yourself and simply ASK God to show himself to you.
That's what Moses did...in Exodus there is an account where Moses was on the mountain with God and he asked God to show himself. It's an amazing account and I won't get into the detail here. But, we can take a lesson from this, if you are facing a great task like Moses....or your simply afraid....or your worship is dry.....ask to see God. He is faithful to do it.
